Top Zombie Movies Of All Time

Today's pop media, including the top zombie movies, has led the way in marketing these animated corpses to a wide sector of society. However, legends and folk stories during the 19th century have greatly inspired the present zombie tales. However, nothing beats the easy access everyone has to the various zombies movies because unlike the tales, the zombie dvd are available and within easy reach.

If you thing the classic zombie films are now hard to find then you have not checked online. The internet is a veritable source of everything about the flesh eaters. Start by choosing which of these top 10 zombie films should occupy your weekends:

1) Night of the Living Dead

Premiering in October of 1968, Night of the Living Dead is an independent cult film by one of the greatest horror directors ever George A. Romero. Regarded on its release as groundbreaking by some reviewers and a "junk movie" by others, Night of the Living Dead is ranked #1 Zombie Movie by many today.

2) Zombie

This movie has given rise to hordes of imitators especially in Italy. Despite this, it still belongs to the list of the most gruesome zombie films. The movie does not stop with corpses and humans but it even features a fighting scene between a zombie and a shark.

3) Dawn of the Dead

This 1976 movie by George Romero takes place in a shopping mall so expect the ambulant corpses to conduct their battles in style. How about an apartment infested with zombies for an opening scene? If you haven't watched this movie then you cannot claim to be a true zombie fanatic.

4) Dead Alive

Every zombie fan or hunter should see this movie not only because it is hilarious but also because it had the hobbit-famous Peter Jackson at the helm. This movie stands at the top of the list of gory zombie movies to date. Just check out the lawnmower scene and you will know why.

5) Re-Animator

This movie tells the story of a medical student who used the cat of his roommate and several bodies from the morgue among others, to test his reanimating serum for defeating death.

6) The Dead Next Door

Join this elite group of zombie hunters who manages to entertain the movie audience despite the cheap acting.

7) Junk

The flesh eaters headed by a hot queen flesh-eater, are faced with Yakuzas and thieves. The idea of the zombies being controlled by a single undead which is portrayed here by a queen, is quite a novelty.

8) Return of the Living Dead

If you've watched the Night of the Living Dead then this is a must-see sequel if only because of the smarter and funnier zombies. This is what happens when you put together punk rocker, zombies, a Nazi mortician and a gas that can create zombies.

9) 28 Days Later

You can argue that there are actually no zombies here in the real sense of the word. However, what do you call people who chase and bite other human beings who are then turned into zombies as a result?

10) Shaun of the Dead

This is a great combination of romance and horror so if your girlfriend is not fond of zombies but you are a fanatic, then this might be a solution.

Any one of these top zombie movies will surely keep you and your friends entertained and scared at the same time.

There is no doubt there is a zombie craze happening right now throughout the world.

For some it is a fascination and love for great horror. For others it's a conscious effort to prepare for the zombie apocalypse. Whatever the case may be for you - we've got you covered.

5 Reasons to Adore The Muppets (2011)

The whole repackaging of the Muppets was indeed memorable, and every element of the Muppet universe was present, all the past glories which left an indelible mark on kids growing up in the 70's and 80's. Here's a rundown of the five...

· The story which delightfully amazed the contemporary audience, as the simple humour, the childlike fantasy and the occasional song and dance sequences, sharply contrasted against contemporary movie themes, and was accepted by the majority of the audience as a breath of fresh air from the flowery valleys of Sesame Street.

· The characters of Gary (Jason Segel), his fiancee Mary (Amy Adams), the rogue tycoon Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) and of course, the cameo of comedian Jack Black as himself. They gave the much needed "Star Power", as Miss

Piggy often used to brag of. What's more, some more power was added during the Muppets live performance by Whoopi Goldberg, Selena Gomez and the inimitable Zach Galifianakis as Hobo Joe.

· The Muppet characters obviously, every one of them. Fozzie Bear with his flat jokes like "I went to this bad sea food place the other day. Yeah, it was so bad, the catch of the day was salmon-ella! "

. Gonzo, the daredevil; Animal "In cooontroooool", the grumpy old men Statler and Waldorf; Statler: I always dreamed we'd be back here. Waldorf: Dreams? Those were nightmares!; Sam the eagle; Beaker; the new brood of hedonist punk Moopets trained by Tex Richman: Miss Poogy "What are you looking at!", Foozie Bear "Waka Waka", and Kermoot. Last but not the least -- Kermit the frog. The list of the rollicking characters from the Muppets is never ending.

· The side story of Gary, Mary and Walter and how the new characters built the platform on which the half forgotten famous puppet characters of yore, could weave their magic spell on the audience once more. The new Muppet character of Walter was actually the protagonist and not Kermit the frog, believe it or not. Walter's bubbly, coy, innocent young teenage character was wonderfully crafted by the Sesame Street storyboard. His mannerisms were more of a geeky and squeamish kid, who absolutely raves in the company of the Muppet Show playing on TV. It's Walter who brings the Muppet Show team after much convincing>> "Gary: So you guys aren't getting back together? Kermit the Frog: [sadly] No. Mary: This is going to be a really short movie"... A period where Walter gasps for breath in his stint of identity crisis: Walter: "Am I a Muppet, or am I a man? If I'm a man, which makes me a Muppet of a man". Finally, he finds himself cozy among the Muppet family, as one of them - as a Muppet.

The movie has been a spectacular achievement as it reignites the Muppet show craze in a teenage world replete with gory video games, titillating music videos and secret lives which the parents will be shocked to know. Welcome back the Muppets, Jim Henson would be proud. Mahna Mahna!!!

Five Good Movies: A Movie List for Work-At-Home Dads

Movie Break: Watch A Movie, Dad!

A work-at-home dad also needs to relax and enjoy. From time-to-time, it is important to take a break. And what better way to do so than by watching a good movie?

Below are five good movies that you, dads, can watch - alone or with your loved ones.

1. To Kill A Mockingbird is a classic. It is one of the best movies that explore relationships on a deeper level. Something that cannot be seen in many of the movies today. The movie talks about a father who is determined to spend his life "in the service" of his children. Atticus Finch is an awesome role model. And the fact that he is a widower makes things all the more interesting.

Find a copy of the movie and you'll realize that, yes, the American Film Institute had every right to call Atticus Finch one of the 20th century's greatest movie heroes.

2. The Road stars Viggo Mortensen as a father who, with his son, does all that he can to survive post-apocalyptic United States. Father and son travel through every sight that tells them that life is over, and yet they continue to journey "down the road". They don't even have any idea what awaits them, and they have nothing really solid that can protect them from anything or anybody, like the cannibalistic bands that they may encounter. It's a father and son movie that tugs at the heartstrings without overdoing anything.

Based on the book of the same title by Cormac McCarthy, The Road is a movie that will redefine your view of the ideal father and son relationship.

3. Field of Dreams. "If you build it, he will come." This Kevin Costner movie is about reconciliation; about a son who will do anything to mend his broken relationship with his father. And everything happens after his father passed away. Ray, the son, builds a baseball diamond upon the urging of a voice that acts as his guide. Eventually, Ray succeeds at reconciling with his father - in the most magical of ways!

Even the toughest man will tear up at this movie!

4. In the movie My Life, Michael Keaton finds out that he is soon to die. What makes things even worst is that he and his wife were expecting their first baby! Since he was sure that he won't be around anymore when the baby arrives, he decides to make a series of videos of himself, so that his son can watch him and get to know him. The scenes where Keaton records the home videos are some of the most poignant.

An interesting side story is Keaton's relationship with his father, with whom he reconciles before he dies.

My Life is one of the best and most underrated daddy movies that has ever been shown.

5. Finding Nemo. This is not in the list just because you will have something that you can watch with your little boy or girl. In all honesty, Finding Nemo is really one good fatherhood movie. This fish story - the story of Marlin and his son Nemo, is one of the best examples of an overprotective father and an adventurous son.

When his son goes missing, needless to say, Marlin does everything necessary to find and get him back - even when it meant dealing with fish from the other species and crossing miles and miles of ocean water!

So, there you go! Some really good choices for you and your loved ones on movie day/night. Mind you, there are still a lot of good movies about dads! For starters, though, this movie list will do.

Barfi! - Watch Ranbir Kapoor At His Very Best!

Someone once said that true love is blind to all the injustices set down by selfish society. It can grow even in the midst of poverty and follow a completely no fear or favor course. Anurag Basu's 'Barfi' is about this and much more. It is the celebration of life. 'Barfi!' is the story of Murphy (lovingly referred to as Barfi by the people) who has a speech and hearing disability and lives every single day of his life to the fullest! With Barfi, Anurag Basu has successfully shown us an amazing story of a deaf-and-dumb man and an autistic girl without the support of loud background scores and other means and has also got the audiences' involved in the proceedings.

South Indian actress Illeana D'Cruz gets into the depths of her character named Shruti (a Bengali belle) to narrate the magical tale of Barfi (Ranbir Kapoor) who happens to be a fun loving character living with his ageing father in Darjeeling of the 70s. Barfi is charming for his cute Chaplin-meets-Mr. Bean funny acts, but more than that, people love him for his childlike and uncomplicated heart. Barfi meets Shruti on her trip to Darjeeling and she finds herself falling for him despite the fact that she is about to get married to a wealthy man back in Kolkata. After a short-lived romance, Shruti chooses worldly pleasures over true love and marries the wealthy man, leaving Barfi dejected and heartbroken.

Jhilmil Chatterjee (played by Priyanka Chopra) is an autistic girl who belongs to rich family in Darjeeling but her family does not seem to care about her emotional needs. Meanwhile, as Barfi tries to come to terms with the fact that Shruti has dumped her, he finds his father suffering from kidney failure. Barfi has no money and tries all possible ways to get the money for his father's treatment but to no avail. Left with no other choice, quite reluctantly, Barfi and his best friend plan to kidnap Jhilmil and blackmail her parents for the money. Within a short span of time, Barfi and Jhilmil realize that they are made for each other and they will have no problems sharing the rest of their lives together without bothering about their physical disabilities. Meanwhile, Shruti could never forget Barfi and even after six years of marriage, she realizes that she still loves the fun loving mute-and-dumb man from Darjeeling.

The story swings from 1978, 1972 and 2012 in a smooth and clear manner and the songs are touching and soulful. Cinematographer Ravi Varman captures striking North Bengal in a marvelous way. Each frame is like a wonderful painting.

The music and background score of the film has been composed by Pritam. Priyanka Chopra was supposed to sing for the film but her contract with Universal Music prevented her from taking the offer. Some additional vocals were given by Ranbir Kapoor himself.

Ranbir Kapoor delivers a stellar performance. After grabbing awards last season for his superb performance in 'Rockstar', Ranbir easily portrays the role of Barfi, leaving the audience speechless. Barfi's character teaches us that life is all about seeking happiness in small things rather than getting wasted in pursuing worldly pleasures. Priyanka Chopra essays the role of an autistic girl with elegance and Bollywood newbie Illeana D'Cruz plays the role of a girl fighting for her own wishes with brilliance.

To sum up, Anurag Basu's 'Barfi!' is an absolute sweet treat for his fans. He has shown us that people with disabilities cannot only be portrayed as lifeless characters on screen. "Barfi" is a sweet that you cannot afford to taste and indulge yourself!

The Dirty Picture (2011) - Hindi Movie Review

Directed by Milan Luthria and produced by Ekta and Shobha Kapoor, The Dirty Picture is an excellent film with explosive dialog and a bang on performance by Vidya Balan, also starring Emraan Hashmi, Naseeruddin Shah and Tusshar Kapoor, The film is a story about a make-up girl who becomes an extra and then the most wanted heroine of the early 80s. Yes, the chronicle rising and the steep fall of the screen sensation Silk Smitha has been perfectly depicted by the quintessential Vidya Balan. Set against the colorful and the entertaining backdrop of south film industry of the 80s, The Dirty picture is a biopic on the life and time of Silk Smitha. It shows her struggles, man in her life and her insecurities.

Director Milan Luthria has given an outstanding piece of cinema. Stepping out of the comfort zone to narrate the tragic story of an actress, the film at no point looks immodest or vulgar. The music composer Vishal Shekhar delivers a good soundtrack. "Oh la la.." is easily the song of the year sung by Bappi Lahiri and Shreya Gosal, While "Ishq tu piya na.." too stand out among the lot. Other songs like "Twinkle twinkle little star.." and "Honeymoon ki raat.." needs special mention.

Silk Smitha aka Vidya in the film have come really long way from her struggling days. Making her debut in the TV serial "Hum Paanch", Vidya's bold and seductive avatar is a complete shocker. Vidya's sizzling show and dare bare act doesn't make her character vulgar or tasteless. She is one of the main reasons why anyone would watch this film. Sometimes, while watching the movie, you wonder why there are Vidya-less scenes in this movie. She has dared to wear no makeup in the second half of the movie, which is very rarely seen in Bollywood movies. She even put on weight for this role in the movie. The clothes she wore is a reflection of the time she is going through. Naseeruddin Shah who has been cast as an aged south superstar with no doubt gives a flawless performance. Emraan Hashmi too stands out as a headstrong, hot blooded, rebellious director. Tusshar also plays his part decently well. Overall, The Dirty Picture is true shocker of the year that is high on sex values. Portrayal of an ordinary person rise from scratch to extraordinary high and her subsequent fall has potential to set the cash register bringing.

The "Curse of Chucky": A Doll's Life

When wounded cinematic serial killer Charles Lee Ray used voodoo magic to transfer his soul into a redheaded doll, a film franchise was born. The first "Child's Play" movie came out more than 20 years ago, spawned four sequels, and inspired a forthcoming reboot of sorts titled "Curse of Chucky." The new entry seeks to return Chucky to the bleak, violent roots of the first films and move him away from the campy comedy aspects of the latter films. Before Chucky's big return, take a look back at his previous hits.

The origin of Chucky was shown in "Child's Play," which was released in 1988 at the heels of the slasher movie craze. When a detective chases a wounded Charles Lee Ray into a toy store, the killer uses voodoo to put his soul into a Good Guy doll, a fictional line of redheaded talking dolls. The toy is later sold to a mother, Karen Barclay (Catherine Hicks), who gives the toy to her son Andy (Andy Levine). Chucky pretends to be a real Good Guy for a brief period of time before he begins murdering those who get in his way.

When his wounds begin to show real blood, Chucky visits his old voodoo teacher and discovers that he can turn mortal in the doll if he stays in it too long. The only solution is to utilize voodoo and put his soul into the body of the first person who knew his actual identity. Chucky had told Andy his real name early on and chases the child down to attempt the ritual. The doll's plans are foiled when Karen and the detective attack and destroy the doll.

"Child's Play 2" picks up shortly after the events of the first film. Karen Barclay is in a psychiatric hospital while Andy is in the foster care system. The Chucky doll is reconstructed by Play Pals, the makers of Good Guy dolls, to see what went wrong in its programming. Chucky returns to life, hijacks the car of an executive, and discovers Andy's new location with a foster family.

The evil doll is able to take the spot of a normal Good Guy doll in the house but it's a short period of time before Andy, and the other members of the household, discover his true killer nature. Andy and his foster sister Kyley are forced to evade Chucky as he attempts once again to place his soul in Andy's body. The children are able to kill Chucky in the Play Pals factory once he begins turning human again.

Chucky's factory death in the second film leads to his resurrection in the third. Eight years have passed and the Play Pals factory finally reopens. Chucky's remains taint a new batch of plastic and produce a fresh doll form for the serial killer's soul. The doll kills an executive for the company and hacks into the computer system to track down Andy (Justin Whalin), who is now a teenager in military school. When Chucky ships himself to the school to find his old enemy, a young boy named Tyler decides to keep him instead. Chucky tells Tyler his secret since the boy wouldn't put up an initial fight, having no history with the doll, but still plans to find Andy to kill him in revenge. Tyler eventually discovers Chucky's true nature and Andy saves the day by dismembering Chucky one last time.

Chucky returns for another film but Andy doesn't. In "Bride of Chucky," the first comedic film of the series, Chucky's pieces are found by Charles Lee Ray's ex-girlfriend, Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly). Tiffany reassembles the doll and performs the voodoo ritual needed to bring Chucky back to life. She succeeds but locks Chucky in a playpen after finding out her engagement ring was stole from one of his victims. Chucky escapes and murders Tiffany then places her soul into a bride doll as punishment for her mocking. The doll duo plans a trip to a cemetery where Ray's body was buried with an amulet powerful enough to get both souls back into human bodies.

The dolls get a ride with Tiffany's friend Jesse, who thinks he's making a doll delivery for cash he needs as he runs away with his girlfriend, Jade (Katherine Heigl). The road trip turns bloody, with Jesse and Jade at times blaming each other for the carnage, before a final showdown in the cemetery. Tiffany ends up trying to kill Chucky, but he stops her. Jade does kill Chucky. Tiffany survives long enough to give birth to the couple's child, Glen. The newborn immediately murders a bystander.

The final film in the original franchise was also comedic in nature. "Seed of Chucky" opens six years later with the gender confused Glen/Glenda deciding to resurrect his parents by stealing animatronic dolls of them created for a film. Tiffany decides she wants to place her soul in the body of Jennifer Tilly, starring as herself. Chucky decides he'd rather stay a doll and attempts to kill both Tiffany and his son/daughter. Glen kills his father and Tiffany performs the ceremony to transfer her soul into Tilly's body and Glen's into that of Tilly's unborn child. At the end of the film, a package is delivered to the human Glen. It contains Chucky's arm. The arm attacks, hinting at what might happen in the next sequel.

That sequel was not to happen as the filmmakers felt fans would prefer a reboot to the darker days of Chucky. "Curse of Chucky" has the doll attacking a family during funeral preparations and his main foil is a girl confined to a wheelchair. Brad Dourif, who has voiced Chucky since the start of the series, will remain as the sound of the killer. Time will tell if "Curse" will lead to a new breed of darker Chucky sequels.

Once Smitten Twice High

'Once' is low budget ( shot for 130,000 euros), stars two musicians as opposed to actors (Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova), was filmed in just 17 days, has semi-improvised dialogue and a plot you could sketch out on the back of a postage stamp: in other words, a recipe for a full blown disaster. I sat down to watch this with absolutely no expectations whatsoever and yet, by the end, I had been entranced by some of the best naturalistic performances I had ever seen and a film which truly got to grips with how music is created and what it means to people.

The plot centres around a Dublin busker (Hansard) whose playing is noticed by an immigrant Czech flower seller (Irglova). In conversation, she pesters him about his songs and, on discovering he repairs vacuum cleaners in his father's shop, returns the next day with her own vacuum cleaner which is broken. Their friendship develops when she reveals that she too harbours musical ambitions, saving up what little money she earns for a piano she has seen in a music shop. As the film continues, we learn more of the characters' backstories at the same time as they kindle a musical and romantic partnership.

It is a film about dreams and hard realities. These are two characters who have been left behind, alienated by the roaring of Ireland's Celtic Tiger, with dreams of escape through music. He wants to escape Dublin and try to gain a foothold in the London music scene whilst she wants to regain some stability in her new adopted homeland by acquiring the instrument she played at home in the Czech Republic. But these are characters also haunted by their pasts: he has an ex-girlfriend in London with whom he is still emotionally involved (in one scene he composes a song watching footage of the pair of them on his laptop) whilst she has a husband in the Czech Republic and lives with her mother and small daughter in an apartment block.

What makes this film one to be cherished is twofold: firstly, the emotional investment the audience places in the two central characters and, secondly, it is one of the few films which gives an indication of the way musicians intuitively feel their way to a realisation of their muse. During the making of the film, Hansard and Irglova began to fall in love with each other in real life just as their characters do in the film. It is rare to see the chemistry of love so rawly displayed on screen. You can virtually sense their falling in love during a key scene in the film when they visit the music shop where her piano is and he teaches her one of his songs ('Falling Slowly'), first by detailing the chords she must use and then taking her through verse, chorus, bridge. He starts to play guitar and she tentatively finds the chords on the piano and begins to accompany him. Their burgeoning emotions are displayed in the shy glances they give each other as they play, each looking for reassurance and encouragement from the other. As she learns the song, she grows in confidence eventually accompanying his voice on the chorus. From being uncomfortable with each other when walking into the shop, they have seen a new avenue open up for the pair of them through the song they have just played together. For me, it is one of the most captivating moments ever captured on film. In writing this, I rewatched the sequence and yet again found myself engulfed in tears (yes, the arty assassin does have a heart!).

The other sequence of the film where goosebumps rise on the skin and hairs prickle at your neck is a purely musical one. By now the pair have recruited a band and got together enough money to record a demo. The engineer is disinterested thinking this is another crap band willing to pay him for a job he can do with his eyes closed (on the phone to a friend he says he's "stuck here with this bunch of fucking oddballs.") However, the sheer passion of the performance in the studio makes him pull out all the stops to ensure they get the best quality demo tape possible. And what a performance it is. On film, it is very difficult to get across the passion live performance can bring and yet here is one of those rare instances where it happens. In the performance of 'When Your Mind's Made Up', the band cut loose and Hansard totally loses himself in the vocal performance (don't be fooled by the gentle opening - watch it all the way through).

There are many other moments to treasure such as the way both music and particularly dialogue are improvised to enormous effect. At one point in the film, Hansard takes Irglova out of town on his father's Triumph Thunderbird. It is at this point that he learns she has a husband in the Czech Republic and he asks her if she is still in love with the man she left behind. The dialogue is improvised and awkward as it would be in real life. To the question he has asked, she replies in Czech. We, the audience, have no idea what she has said and at the time of filming neither did Hansard but evidently the translation is, "It is you I love." Rarely has there been such a public and genuine protestation of love on film, a declaration that merges fiction and real life and one made all the more poignant by the recipient of it not understanding what she said.

If you have a belief in the power of music being capable of effecting change, you need to see this film. If you believe in the power of love overcoming adversity, you need to see this film. And when you have seen the physical manifestation of this combination on film, you will clasp 'Once' to your bosom, as I have, and view it when you begin to doubt that music and love are the two most important things we have. 'Once' is a little film with a massive heart.

'Finding Nemo 3D' Is A Must See

The film that earned Pixar its first Oscar for best animated feature and the fourth-highest grossing animated movie ever, 'Finding Nemo' aims to delight fans once again, only this time in 3-D. The original film was released in 2003 and now 9 years later, the 3-D version offers young viewers their first chance to see it on the big screen and older fans the chance to rediscover the classic.

Visually stunning in 2-D, "Finding Nemo" is a perfect film for 3-D. In the original film, the Pixar technical team worked to discover and develop new and improved methods for creating animated underwater imagery and extensive research was done to study water properties to create a realistic ocean environment. The original film featured details such as particulate matter to the scenes to give the ocean a more realistic look and added depth. Those same details really come to life in 3-D. The particulate matter seemingly floats by your face giving you the feeling you are in the ocean.

Beyond the breathtaking animation, 'Finding Nemo' showcases Pixar's great storytelling. The film takes viewers on a journey along the Great Barrier Reef and highlights all the dangers faced by Nemo, a tiny clown fish. Opening with the loss of Nemo's mother and siblings, his neurotic, over-protective father Marlin (Albert Brooks) is left to raise his only son by himself. On the first day of school, Nemo, despite his father's warnings, swims off alone to take a closer look at a boat. Nemo is scooped up by a diver while his father watches. Nemo eventually ends up in a fish tank in a dentist's office.

Marlin begins the frantic search for his son and bumps into Dory (EllenDeGeneres) a funny, memory-impaired blue tang. The two face a number of hazards in their quest to find Nemo which in 3-D are even more spectacular. The 3-D enhancements make running into Bruce the shark even more terrifying and amplifies the thrill factor of the chases, like the one through the submarine.

In the meantime, Nemo has his own journey. He meets new friends, learns from his own mistakes and discovers how to overcome challenges, while making plans to make a daring escape of his own.

So You Want To Be A Model

We all know that model strutting the runway, leaves the crowds in awe, and does not seem to break a sweat in doing so. Graceful, elegant and time seems to come to a standstill as they do so. We would then go ahead to whisper to our colleague that she is a natural and that she is "born to do so". In as much as that might be true, it is not the truth. There is more to it, as explained in this article.

Modeling can be defined as the art of displaying merchandise such as clothing or cosmetics or serving as an object for an artist such as a painter or sculptor or one serving as an example to be imitated or compared to. An easier way to put it would be that girl or a man on the magazine cover that most people want to be like.

In as much as natural beauty is a plus it is not enough. Most of these well-reputed models have had to endure very difficult diets as well as endure thorough workouts in the gym daily. They also have to eat healthy in order to maintain that physique. Nevertheless, a reason even more important than this is that they were able to find modeling opportunities that they were able to pursue. These opportunities may have been from their own ambition or maybe they got into contact with a good agency.

Therefore, the most important way to become a great model is to get out there! Your modeling talent may remain undiscovered if you do not venture out. If you are lucky, someone will spot you and for sure, it will not be in your room! Go for models auditions. Take a friend or a relative along of you think it will help you be more relaxed.

Something important worth noting though is that even though not everyone is a model by worldly standards, everyone is beautiful in his or her own way. Ladies you do not have to be super slim to be considered beautiful and guys you do not have to have abs to be considered attractive. You are great just the way you are. The most important step in being a good model is accepting you the way you are, this confidence oozes on stage. It is a good thing a number of designers and magazine publishers are looking beyond the model stereotypes.

Is Your Child Going To Be The Next Teen TV Star?

To many parents, teenage-hood is a time in their child's growth that they dread. From the rebellion to peer pressure to sudden cries for independence among other things. For many parents, this is too much and too sudden. Parents are greatly concerned about their children's company and whereabouts and tend to imagine every moment out of their eyes is spent in debauchery and every other kind of evil under the sun.

However, fear not parents! What if there is a way to make sure that your kids spend time in activities that are constructive and will keep them from harm and possibly help them make decent money in future? Well, there is a way!

Actually, there are quite a number, but in the article, the subject on auditions for teenagers in 2012 will be expounded. Disney holds these auditions annually. Many children come from everywhere hoping to be the next big T.V. star and own their own T.V. show and have millions of adoring fans worldwide.

Here the teens are put through rigorous auditions and should they succeed, they are pretty much assured of a platform into the acting world dare we say Hollywood should they get good managers and a supportive family and possibly further acting classes. However, it does not come that easy. How does a parent get their child from bumming at home or roaming with the wrong company, and direct them to movie auditions for teenagers?

Natural talent is key

Well for starters, natural talent is always a plus. Parents should be attentive to their children especially as they are growing up and be able to note key areas of interest in their lives. After such areas are noted it is then important to take the proper steps to nurture the talent. Enroll your child for acting classes and encourage them to take part in as many plays as possible. Be they Christmas plays or church plays. All of this count as practice and exposure.

As the parents and family, be supportive but also be honest in your opinions. Let them know where they can do better, be sure to offer the criticism in a constructive way that will build them and help them grow. If they are very good on the other hand and have received very many accolades and praise, congratulate them but also help them stay grounded. Rebuke any pride or cockiness in them, as you explain why they should not feel superior to others.

The Good That Acting Will Do For Your Child

One of the greatest ways of fostering creativity and innovation in young children is encouraging them to use their gifts of expression. One way is by use of acting. The auditory, kinesthetic and visual aspects of acting and drama are limitless. They build the ability of the child to express themselves candidly in any situation.

Apart from the fun, the acting experience serves as an educational platform as the child gets to take part in skits that relate to real life stuff. Great social and moral lessons have rarely been taught in the classroom, but in the acting stage. This article discusses some of the benefits that your child gains through acting.

Building Creativity and Innovation

In the drama skits, kids to act as kings, queens, princes, animals, cowboys and a variety of other personas. Through the improvisation of these roles, the buildup of creativity in the participating kids is endless. Due to the innocence of the children, they completely let themselves go while performing the roles that their creativity functions at a very high level.

In children who are a bit timid and shy, gentle prodding and encouragement brings out their level best. Whatever creativity is brought out on the stage is also shown at home. Acting for kids is a great way of boosting their creativity and teaching them to self-expression.

Sensory Experiences

Acting involves the use of all senses. Whether the child actor knows it or not, they slowly get exposed to scenes that demand the use of their emotional senses and the other children watching the act get to see how the rest of the actors interprets some of these emotional senses. The visual and auditory senses work hand in hand and these enables the child actors, who come first, and the way to co-ordinate the senses.

As a result, listening and observation skills are built in such a way that the kids learn the basics of communication in a way that is fun and easy to grasp. For children with hearing or visual impairments, they can further be assisted by enrolling them in acting lessons for kids as this will teach the hard of hearing to read facial expressions and understand while the visually impaired are taught to make meaning out of sounds and tones of voice used.

Another great sensory skill that the child learns is the use of movement to convey emotions. Through body movements, acting children learn the related body movements that mean happiness, anger, joy, frustration and such other emotions that are common in life. Therefore, acting is a school away from school.

Two Things That Bring Out The Actor In Your Child

For a parent raising a child that is showing great prowess in the acting department may be troubled by the thought of how to bring out the best of their child's gifts. Some even contemplate a move to the places where acting is considered the main economic activity in an effort to foster the gift's development. Concerned parents need no search any more as this article gives some guidance on what to do.

Where To Start

In acting for kids, always begin with the most basic, which getting the child to take part in school plays and dramas. If a lot of free time is available, the child can be led to join musicals, independent drama groups and summer camps that have acting activities.

In as much as you may have noticed that the child is really gifted, giving them this exposure gives them the time and experience they need to decide if they want to really be actors. One of the worst things you can do, as a parent is force the child to act while he has other interests. You should never rust to step two.

Getting An Agent

After the gradual learning in the starting point, the child may decide to pursue acting as a career. You now move to the next critical stage of getting an agent for the child. The best way to go in this is getting local and reputable agents that have a solid reputation of representing child actors.

Getting a signature communicates your support to the child in a million ways and the agent protects the child from exploitation by script and movies producers as well as controlling the amount of media exposure. A good child-acting agent will encourage you to take your child to acting lessons for kids to horn their skills.

Work and Play

While all this is going on, take time as a parent and begin getting your child ready for the future. Once they have registered, the agency may call upon them any time to audition for a role and the child needs to understand that acting is both work and play. Auditions can go all the way into the night and sometimes affect school hours. Teaching your child all these will save any emotional or physical imbalance the new roles may cause.

In your role as a parent, never be pushy. Let the children learn and grow at their own pace. There are times the child in them will want to play and be kiddish, allow it to happen. Show them support by accompanying them to the auditions, movie shoots and other related events.

April, the Worst Month for Movie Releases in 2012

The worst month for gross domestic earnings at the box office for 2012 has been the month of April. Earnings during the month were a total of $721 million on 206 movies in release, a drop of nine percent over earnings the year before. The box office for April 2011 was $792.6 million in gross domestic earnings. The 2012 numbers were the lowest reported since 2009.

The April box office was as high as it was, due primarily to "The Hunger Games." The movie opened on March 23 and was still pulling in theatergoers through the month of April to the tune of $139.4 million. The Gary Ross-directed movie starred Jennifer Lawrence as Katness in a futuristic sci-fi story of a dystopian society that pits its children against one another in a brutal death match.

While earnings were down for "The Hunger Games" after its strong opening weekend of $152.5 million, they were still more than twice that of the second highest earner for the month. The second highest earner, January opener "Think Like a Man" brought in $61.7 million. Completing the top five earners for the month was "Titanic 3D" with earnings of $56.4 million, "Wrath of the Titans" with $55.6 million and "American Reunion," another January opener with $53.7 million.

There was a variety of reasons for April's poor box office performance. April has typically been one of the lower earners during the year. The winter releases prior to Christmas have generally been pulled from the market following their runs by March. Movie companies are also gearing up for the summer blockbuster movie season, which usually begins in May. During 2012, the first summer blockbuster to hit movie screens was "Marvel's the Avengers," which earned over $532 million for the month of May, followed by "Men in Black 3," which earned less than the anticipated $83 million.

Average earnings per movie in April were also low, causing an overall downturn in earnings despite having an extremely large number of films in release. Only March's 207 movies and May's 213 were higher. The earnings per movie amount were only $3.5 million, the lowest of all months preceding September. Some of the blame should rest with several single theater films, however. The lowest earning film for the month, for example, took in only $95. Only the top 15 films in release managed to break the $10 million earnings mark, compared with $17 in March.

Adding to April's low earnings was the lack of truly high performers. While it can't be said that April was a dumping month for Hollywood films, it wasn't a month for the release of expected high earners. None of the new releases earned a total domestic gross of over $100 million. The closest to that mark was "Think Like a Man," with domestic earnings of $91.5 million. The second highest total earner was "The Lucky One," with $60.4 million, followed by "Titanic 3D," which earned $57.8 million despite being a rerelease of an earlier film in 3D format.

There was also a lack of widely released films in April. While "The Hunger Games" was seen in 4,137 theaters, only 26 of the 206 films reporting earnings for the month were seen in over 1,000. The vast majority of films during the month were seen in 100 or fewer theaters. This low release number limited their possible earnings significantly. The results were that only 35 films earned more than $1 million in domestic gross during the month. "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" pulled in at last place among million dollar earners.

Many looking at the earnings for April 2012 might be tempted to feel that the low amount was a large negative for the movie market as a whole. This couldn't be farther from the truth, however. Though the total earnings were lower than the earnings reported for 2011 and 2010, the amount was still significantly higher than that posted in 2009 and 2008. The $721 million total gross demonstrates the continuing increase in theater earnings from year to year, due primarily to higher ticket prices.

The question analysts should be asking themselves when looking at the earnings numbers is how they relate to the costs of producing and marketing the films being shown. Blockbuster releases can only go so far toward bringing a production company into the black. With more emphasis on higher costing films, however, even the rise in ticket costs may be unable to provide a truly profitable marketplace for costly new releases. With the worse month bringing in over $700 million in earnings, it doesn't appear that theaters are in any danger of shutting down wholesale anytime soon.

The Cabin in the Woods Review

This is the film that more sophisticated horror fans have been waiting for. It takes your stereotypical horror story of a group of archetypally based friends going off and getting terrorized by some horrific being or creature for one reason or another. One thing always seems to stand with this type of film. The humans are really stupid, and most horror films are fueled by an onslaught of bad decisions. Well, The Cabin in the Woods does the same, but puts a twist on it. A devilishly clever twist that completely transcends the horror genre. The Cabin in the Woods is unlike anything you have ever seen.

All that you really need to know going into The Cabin in the Woods is that it is about a group of friends who go to a remote cabin in the middle of the woods to party, drink, have sex, etc, etc. Naturally, things get weird, but not what you would expect. If you can guess exactly how this film will pan out then major kudos to you. But, if you actually can guess whats going on in this film then you're probably cheating. The point is, The Cabin in the Woods is fiendishly unpredictable and completely unlike any horror film you've ever seen.

And, to praise this film even further, it's just plain awesome. It is so incredibly smart and so deliciously clever, combining so many different genres and doing things with these genres that we have never seen before. I have to be really vague in how I express my absolute love for this movie, because you absolutely have to see it knowing nothing about what is really going on. This way, as events unfold you will be completely floored, just as I was. The film is constantly building towards some big reveal, hinting at little things here and there that suggest what is actually going on, but still being very vague and very ambiguous about the whole thing. This brilliant subtlety to the progression of the story is what makes this film so incredibly enthralling and a non-stop roller coaster of excitement.

The Cabin in the Woods is a must see. It doesn't matter what you think going into the movie. You can expect it to be awesome, you can expect it to be awful. It doesn't matter. It is a one of a kind experience and you would be a fool to miss out on it. See this movie to experience one of the most clever films I have seen all year.

A Look Inside 'House at the End of the Street'

"House at the End of the Street" is an American horror film starring Elizabeth Shue, Jennifer Lawrence and Max Thierot and directed by Mark Tonderai. It is set in Pennsylvania, although it was mostly filmed in Ottawa, Canada. This film has a running time of 101 minutes, and its dialogue is entirely in English. The rating of this film is PG-13.

Release Dates

The original release date for this film was February 3, 2012, but it was later rescheduled to April 2012 and then to August 21, 2012. The reason for the changes in release dates was probably to prevent it from competing with other horror films by Relativity Media, the film's distributor. A novel based on the screenplay was released on August 21, 2012 to serve as a tie-in for the film.

Plot

Sarah Cassidy (Elisabeth Shue) is a newly divorced mother trying to get a fresh start in life. She and her daughter Elissa (Jennifer Lawrence) move to a nice house in a small town in rural Pennsylvania. Sarah and Elissa begin to experience some unexplainable events that lead them to discover the town's chilling secret. Years earlier, a girl in the house next door killed her parents while they were asleep and then disappeared. Her brother Ryan Jacobson (Max Thierot) survived the massacre and stills lives in the house. Elissa befriends Ryan against Sarah's wishes, and they are all drawn into a dangerous mystery.

Writers

The writers for "House at the End of the Street" are David Loucka and Jonathan Mostow. Mostow wrote the original short story, from which Loucka developed the screenplay. Mostow also wrote the novelization of the film from the screenplay.

Loucka's first major successes as a screenwriter were comedies such as "The Dream Team" in 1989 and "Eddie" from 1996. However, he is currently best known for psychological thrillers such as the "The Ring" in 2002 and "Dream House" in 2011.

Mostow is both a director and writer and often performs both duties for the same film. He got his start in documentaries and music videos before making the 1989 thriller "Beverly Hills Bodysnatchers" and the 1991 action drama "Flight of Black Angel." Mostow's first commercially successful film was the 1997 thriller "Breakdown" starring Kurt Russell. This was followed by the 2000 World War II film "U-571" and 2003 science fiction action film "Rise of the Machines." He took a six-year hiatus from filmmaking before directing the 2009 science fiction action film "Surrogates."

Producers

The producers for "House at the End of the Street" include Peter Block and Aaron Ryder. The main producer is Aaron Ryder, who approved Ottawa for the film after scouting locations for two months. Ryder primarily selected rural locations for the film, although one week of filming was spent at Algonquin College. Ryder's producing credits include the 2001 comedy "The Mexican" starring Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts. He also produced the 2000 psychological thriller "Memento" and the 2001 thriller "Donnie Darko."

Peter Block is best known as the producer for the "Saw" series of horror films, which currently includes six films. He also produced the 2005 horror film "The Devil's Rejects," the 2008 action adventure film "Rambo 4," and the 2009 horror film "Daybreakers."

Actors

Jennifer Lawrence is best known as Katniss Everdeen, the lead character in the 2012 action film "The Hunger Games." She also played Mystique in the 2011 superhero film "X-Men: First Class." Lawrence starred in the 2010 drama "Winter's Bone" as Ree Dolly. This role earned her a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress at the age of 20, making her the second youngest actress ever to be nominated.

Elizabeth Shue is best known as Sera in the 1995 romantic drama "Leaving Las Vegas," for which she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress. She also played Jennifer Parker in the second and third films in the "Back to the Future" trilogy. Shue's first role in film was Ali Mills in the 1989 martial arts film "The Karate Kid."

Max Thierot's first film was the 2004 family comedy "Catch That Kid," when he was 16. He also starred in the 2005 comedy "The Pacifier," which also starred Vin Diesel. Thierot's first dramatic role was a Shepard farmer in the 2007 drama "The Astronaut Farmer," and he also had a starring role in the 2007 comedy/drama "Nancy Drew." Thierot's first adult role was Michael Stewart in the 2009 erotic thriller "Chloe." His last film before making "House at the End of the Street" was the 2011 drama "Foreverland."

Watching Sports on TV

Most sports fans would debate on whether it is better to watch sports at the stadium or on the television. Since one fan is different from another, he may think that watching a game live at the stadium is better than watching it on television. For some, however, that is not the case.

First, here are the advantages of watching a game live at the stadium.

- The atmosphere is very exciting because of all the sports fans gathered to give their support to their favorite teams.
- There is the unending buzz going on around the building; plus you might just meet somebody who has the same interests.
- Watching a live game with family and friends can prove to be a very bonding experience.
- There is no need for you to go out to get your favorite hotdog buns or pizza slice because stadiums are filled with food stands providing you with unlimited food choices.
- You can take home that ticket stub and place it in a scrap book as proof that you have been to the game.
You might get a chance to have a photo with your favorite athlete after the game.

Despite the advantages mentioned above, most sports fans prefer to watch games on TV since they believe watching at a stadium has the following disadvantages.

- They do not enjoy the discomforts of sitting on hard, plastic seats with no leg room.
- There could be drunken people sitting next to them, with a great chance of getting spilled with beer.
- There are some people who bring kids who seem to have a knack for kicking the back of a person's seat all the time.
- There is a big chance that the weather might turn harsh.
- Whenever hunger and the need to pee strikes, an irritated sports fan would have to spend time waiting in long lines.
- The more irritated fan might have spent a second glancing at his cellphone and realizes that he has just missed a good shot from his favorite team.
The long hours taken in waiting for a parking space.

Some fans believe that they can see more of the game when watching from their TV. Maybe this is because of the zooming in capabilities of cameras which influenced this reason. Whatever the reason is, watching sports on TV and watching live at the stadium both have their pros and cons. It is up to the fan to decide whether he would have to spend waiting time in long lines outside the stadium, or miss the live excitement yet enjoy the comforts of his living room couch.

4 Things To Do While You Consider Plus Size Modeling

Little was said about plus size modeling back then, as these people were perceived to leave little to desire. That has recently changed as we see more people getting confidence over their body type. This is especially since the fashion world has accommodated them. So how do you become a plus size model?

First things first, what defines you as a plus size woman and what makes you a model? Well, it is easy actually; you only need to be more than a nine but most importantly you have to be confident and photogenic.

Such a model is defined as a confident woman of distinct feminine features with a size range of between 10 and 20. Their job is to model, for not only clothes but also a variety of products mainly to improve sales. If one wanted to be a plus size model, this is what they would need;

Be interested in modeling

You want to do something you like, so you must be ready to model. Do your research and find out the challenges that come with becoming a plus size model. Talk to your family about it; be confident about your body because that is the most important thing

Create a portfolio

You have to be prepared to look like a commodity. Your objective will be to sell yourself as the best person to sell any product that you are called upon to. So in effect, you are a product, so create a portfolio; take photos of yourself, to show your natural beauty, get creative with your poses. Make sure that you only have quality photographs.

Approach modeling agencies

Look for agencies that have plus such model lines, for instance, Ralph Lauren started a plus size modeling line, Ashley Stewart and berna curves. Look for modeling agencies that will take you as you are.

Get an agency and attend their open calls.

It is very important to get exposure in to the modeling industry, getting yourself in to an agency is an easy way to get small jobs. Attending their open calls will open your eyes to the needs of the industry so that you can keep up with the times on how to become a plus size model.

Another important thing is to know what modeling agencies look for, so here is a small guide to what they look for

Height - Mostly minimum height is 5 7"
Size - As earlier stated, this ranges from size 10-20
Build - Have a proportional figure and natural beauty, especially the face and legs.
Attitude - Confidence comes in again, go getter and a positive attitude will come in handy.

When starting out, you will need to find a makeup artist and simple but stylish clothing and a very good camera.

Great Actors: Al Pacino

Considered one of cinema's most prolific actors of all-time, Al Pacino is truly a magnificently talented legend in the art of acting. With a total of eight Oscar nominations, including one win, he owes much of his success and legendary status to the fact that he was one of the leading actors during one of cinema's greatest eras, the 1970s, playing crucial roles in important gangster films. Since then, he has managed to only grow in stature and is widely regarded as one of the most influential actors of our time.

Mastering the Method Acting approach that was flourishing during the '70s, Al Pacino was able to demonstrate his unique acting abilities in such masterful works as The Godfather (1974) and The Godfather: Part II (1974), playing the now iconic role of mobster Michael Corleone. He shows true grit and realism that is simply uncanny and is absolutely magnetic in this role, which earned him two Oscar nominations. Other notable films of his during this era include Serpico (1973) and Dog Day Afternoon (1975).

Building on his new found fame and recognition, Pacino continued to make important films in the '80s and '90s. One of my favorites, 1983's Scarface, in which he plays Cuban mobster Tony Montana, further solidified his place in film history, to me at least. He is stunning and mesmerizing in this role and gave cinema one of its most famous quotes: "Say hello to my little friend!"

Playing a blind man in Scent of a Woman (1992), Al Pacino was finally given a much-deserved Oscar by the Academy. Being the true professional that he is, he did not rest on his laurels. Instead, he continued to act in two memorable films. While Carlito's Way (1993) became another gangster classic to be added to his impressive filmography, it was his excellent collaboration with director Michael Mann and another acting legend, Robert De Niro, in 1995 that resulted in possibly the greatest cop drama ever, Heat.

Having played outstanding roles in a plethora of classic films, it is clear to see that Al Pacino has not received his legendary status without working hard for it. As an admirer of cinema, I always get excited and pumped up when I am about to watch an Al Pacino picture. He brings such rawness and focus in his movies that very few other actors can, if any. One can safely claim that his roles and films will live forever and remain benchmarks for generations to come.

The Vampire Diaries: What Might Have Been

Each week, fans of The Vampire Diaries despair along with the brooding Stefan Salvatore, played by Paul Wesley and drool over the bad boy with a heart, Damon Salvatore, played by Ian Somerhalder. These same fans try to keep up with the antics of Elena Gilbert and Katherine Pierce as Nina Dobrev keeps their heads on swivels as she whips from one situation to another one and another one. Then, there's the enigmatic, and downright hot, history teacher/vampire slayer, Alaric Saltzman portrayed perfectly by Matt Davis.

Everyone is so accustomed to these actors in the roles of these characters because they've been watching the show for the last three years. It's difficult to think of anyone else as Stefan, Damon, Elena and Alaric. However, as everyone knows, the creation of a television show takes a lot of work. Possibly the most important step of getting a series off the ground is selecting the best actors and actresses for each role. That means there will be auditions for the various characters that will be appearing in the show. So it should come as no surprise that there was every chance that other actors and actresses could have landed the roles that fans are so devoted to now. Some may surprise you, others will make you giggle, and still others may horrify you.

To begin with, fans love Paul Wesley in the role of Stefan Salvatore. However, Paul initially wanted to play the part of Damon Salvatore. He auditioned for Damon but the Powers that Be thought he would be better cast as Stefan. Truthfully, they weren't totally sure if he was the right one to play Stefan, either. That certainty didn't come until the pilot episode of The Vampire Diaries was filmed and they saw that he totally nailed it. Now. no one can ever imagine another face on Stefan except that of Paul Wesley's.

Speaking of Damon Salvatore, it seems that his character is the one that everyone wanted to play. There's little wonder, though, when you think of the type of character that Damon is. Besides Paul Wesley, there were three other actors that coveted the part of Damon. Zach Roerig auditioned to play Damon before landing the lesser role of Matt Donovan. It doesn't seem that he would have fit the part of Damon so a good decision was made there. Then, there was Michael Trevino. He wanted to be Damon before he was given the role of Tyler Lockwood. Let's face it; Michael makes an awesome werewolf, but he really isn't Damon material.

Ian Somerhalder, of course, also auditioned and landed this much sought after role. In the eyes of the majority of The Vampire Diaries fans, Ian is perfection when it comes to playing Damon. When you think about it, True Blood's loss is definitely The Vampire Diaries gain. During the first couple of seasons, Damon relished being the bad boy. He showed no guilt for anything that he did. On the other hand, even when Stefan had returned to his Ripper side, he still didn't seem to enjoy it. Damon has never shown the tortured side of his soul that Stefan constantly shows. This part was made for Ian and it seems that the fans love him in it. After all, getting to look into those amazing eyes of his every week is more than enough reason for him to be Damon!

The part of Alaric Saltzman has been skillfully portrayed by Matt Davis for the three seasons. Even though his character is now deceased, he'll still be turning up every once in a while because Jeremy Gilbert can see and talk to dead people. Everyone agrees that Matt was the perfect choice to play Alaric. Now, it may surprise you that James Van Der Beek of Dawson's Creek fame was strongly considered for the part of Alaric. When you look at James' grown up appearance these days, it might not have been a bad fit. But everyone would have sure missed seeing Matt's handsome face every week.

Before Nina Dobrev was awarded the role of Elena Gilbert, there were a couple more actresses that were considered for the role. One of these was Alexandra Chando. She wanted the role so badly that she auditioned four different times for it. It seems that the show's Powers that Be had a "type" in mind because Alexandra looks a great deal like Nina. As it turned out, though, Alexandra went on to play the dual lead of twins sisters in The Lying Game.

Now, this next one is really difficult to digest, but it seems that the network executives wanted Ashlee Simpson for the dual part of Elena/Katherine. Take a second to let that sink in. Deal with the horror that you're most likely feeling at this moment. Then, remember that Nina was chosen to play Elena. Now, you can take a deep cleansing breath and relax. Ashlee went on to co-star in the disastrous remake of Melrose Place, and you all know what happened with that. Everyone can only be thankful that she wasn't allowed to ruin The Vampire Diaries. Seriously, what were those execs thinking?

Just for fun, when you're watching episodes from The Vampire Diaries, try to picture some of these other actors in place of the ones that won the roles. You might find that you'll get a little kick out of mentally placing their faces over the ones appearing on your television screen. Then, smile and breathe that sigh of relief that things turned out the way they did!
