Top Zombie Movies Of All Time

Today's pop media, including the top zombie movies, has led the way in marketing these animated corpses to a wide sector of society. However, legends and folk stories during the 19th century have greatly inspired the present zombie tales. However, nothing beats the easy access everyone has to the various zombies movies because unlike the tales, the zombie dvd are available and within easy reach.

If you thing the classic zombie films are now hard to find then you have not checked online. The internet is a veritable source of everything about the flesh eaters. Start by choosing which of these top 10 zombie films should occupy your weekends:

1) Night of the Living Dead

Premiering in October of 1968, Night of the Living Dead is an independent cult film by one of the greatest horror directors ever George A. Romero. Regarded on its release as groundbreaking by some reviewers and a "junk movie" by others, Night of the Living Dead is ranked #1 Zombie Movie by many today.

2) Zombie

This movie has given rise to hordes of imitators especially in Italy. Despite this, it still belongs to the list of the most gruesome zombie films. The movie does not stop with corpses and humans but it even features a fighting scene between a zombie and a shark.

3) Dawn of the Dead

This 1976 movie by George Romero takes place in a shopping mall so expect the ambulant corpses to conduct their battles in style. How about an apartment infested with zombies for an opening scene? If you haven't watched this movie then you cannot claim to be a true zombie fanatic.

4) Dead Alive

Every zombie fan or hunter should see this movie not only because it is hilarious but also because it had the hobbit-famous Peter Jackson at the helm. This movie stands at the top of the list of gory zombie movies to date. Just check out the lawnmower scene and you will know why.

5) Re-Animator

This movie tells the story of a medical student who used the cat of his roommate and several bodies from the morgue among others, to test his reanimating serum for defeating death.

6) The Dead Next Door

Join this elite group of zombie hunters who manages to entertain the movie audience despite the cheap acting.

7) Junk

The flesh eaters headed by a hot queen flesh-eater, are faced with Yakuzas and thieves. The idea of the zombies being controlled by a single undead which is portrayed here by a queen, is quite a novelty.

8) Return of the Living Dead

If you've watched the Night of the Living Dead then this is a must-see sequel if only because of the smarter and funnier zombies. This is what happens when you put together punk rocker, zombies, a Nazi mortician and a gas that can create zombies.

9) 28 Days Later

You can argue that there are actually no zombies here in the real sense of the word. However, what do you call people who chase and bite other human beings who are then turned into zombies as a result?

10) Shaun of the Dead

This is a great combination of romance and horror so if your girlfriend is not fond of zombies but you are a fanatic, then this might be a solution.

Any one of these top zombie movies will surely keep you and your friends entertained and scared at the same time.

There is no doubt there is a zombie craze happening right now throughout the world.

For some it is a fascination and love for great horror. For others it's a conscious effort to prepare for the zombie apocalypse. Whatever the case may be for you - we've got you covered.

5 Reasons to Adore The Muppets (2011)

The whole repackaging of the Muppets was indeed memorable, and every element of the Muppet universe was present, all the past glories which left an indelible mark on kids growing up in the 70's and 80's. Here's a rundown of the five...

· The story which delightfully amazed the contemporary audience, as the simple humour, the childlike fantasy and the occasional song and dance sequences, sharply contrasted against contemporary movie themes, and was accepted by the majority of the audience as a breath of fresh air from the flowery valleys of Sesame Street.

· The characters of Gary (Jason Segel), his fiancee Mary (Amy Adams), the rogue tycoon Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) and of course, the cameo of comedian Jack Black as himself. They gave the much needed "Star Power", as Miss

Piggy often used to brag of. What's more, some more power was added during the Muppets live performance by Whoopi Goldberg, Selena Gomez and the inimitable Zach Galifianakis as Hobo Joe.

· The Muppet characters obviously, every one of them. Fozzie Bear with his flat jokes like "I went to this bad sea food place the other day. Yeah, it was so bad, the catch of the day was salmon-ella! "

. Gonzo, the daredevil; Animal "In cooontroooool", the grumpy old men Statler and Waldorf; Statler: I always dreamed we'd be back here. Waldorf: Dreams? Those were nightmares!; Sam the eagle; Beaker; the new brood of hedonist punk Moopets trained by Tex Richman: Miss Poogy "What are you looking at!", Foozie Bear "Waka Waka", and Kermoot. Last but not the least -- Kermit the frog. The list of the rollicking characters from the Muppets is never ending.

· The side story of Gary, Mary and Walter and how the new characters built the platform on which the half forgotten famous puppet characters of yore, could weave their magic spell on the audience once more. The new Muppet character of Walter was actually the protagonist and not Kermit the frog, believe it or not. Walter's bubbly, coy, innocent young teenage character was wonderfully crafted by the Sesame Street storyboard. His mannerisms were more of a geeky and squeamish kid, who absolutely raves in the company of the Muppet Show playing on TV. It's Walter who brings the Muppet Show team after much convincing>> "Gary: So you guys aren't getting back together? Kermit the Frog: [sadly] No. Mary: This is going to be a really short movie"... A period where Walter gasps for breath in his stint of identity crisis: Walter: "Am I a Muppet, or am I a man? If I'm a man, which makes me a Muppet of a man". Finally, he finds himself cozy among the Muppet family, as one of them - as a Muppet.

The movie has been a spectacular achievement as it reignites the Muppet show craze in a teenage world replete with gory video games, titillating music videos and secret lives which the parents will be shocked to know. Welcome back the Muppets, Jim Henson would be proud. Mahna Mahna!!!

Five Good Movies: A Movie List for Work-At-Home Dads

Movie Break: Watch A Movie, Dad!

A work-at-home dad also needs to relax and enjoy. From time-to-time, it is important to take a break. And what better way to do so than by watching a good movie?

Below are five good movies that you, dads, can watch - alone or with your loved ones.

1. To Kill A Mockingbird is a classic. It is one of the best movies that explore relationships on a deeper level. Something that cannot be seen in many of the movies today. The movie talks about a father who is determined to spend his life "in the service" of his children. Atticus Finch is an awesome role model. And the fact that he is a widower makes things all the more interesting.

Find a copy of the movie and you'll realize that, yes, the American Film Institute had every right to call Atticus Finch one of the 20th century's greatest movie heroes.

2. The Road stars Viggo Mortensen as a father who, with his son, does all that he can to survive post-apocalyptic United States. Father and son travel through every sight that tells them that life is over, and yet they continue to journey "down the road". They don't even have any idea what awaits them, and they have nothing really solid that can protect them from anything or anybody, like the cannibalistic bands that they may encounter. It's a father and son movie that tugs at the heartstrings without overdoing anything.

Based on the book of the same title by Cormac McCarthy, The Road is a movie that will redefine your view of the ideal father and son relationship.

3. Field of Dreams. "If you build it, he will come." This Kevin Costner movie is about reconciliation; about a son who will do anything to mend his broken relationship with his father. And everything happens after his father passed away. Ray, the son, builds a baseball diamond upon the urging of a voice that acts as his guide. Eventually, Ray succeeds at reconciling with his father - in the most magical of ways!

Even the toughest man will tear up at this movie!

4. In the movie My Life, Michael Keaton finds out that he is soon to die. What makes things even worst is that he and his wife were expecting their first baby! Since he was sure that he won't be around anymore when the baby arrives, he decides to make a series of videos of himself, so that his son can watch him and get to know him. The scenes where Keaton records the home videos are some of the most poignant.

An interesting side story is Keaton's relationship with his father, with whom he reconciles before he dies.

My Life is one of the best and most underrated daddy movies that has ever been shown.

5. Finding Nemo. This is not in the list just because you will have something that you can watch with your little boy or girl. In all honesty, Finding Nemo is really one good fatherhood movie. This fish story - the story of Marlin and his son Nemo, is one of the best examples of an overprotective father and an adventurous son.

When his son goes missing, needless to say, Marlin does everything necessary to find and get him back - even when it meant dealing with fish from the other species and crossing miles and miles of ocean water!

So, there you go! Some really good choices for you and your loved ones on movie day/night. Mind you, there are still a lot of good movies about dads! For starters, though, this movie list will do.

Barfi! - Watch Ranbir Kapoor At His Very Best!

Someone once said that true love is blind to all the injustices set down by selfish society. It can grow even in the midst of poverty and follow a completely no fear or favor course. Anurag Basu's 'Barfi' is about this and much more. It is the celebration of life. 'Barfi!' is the story of Murphy (lovingly referred to as Barfi by the people) who has a speech and hearing disability and lives every single day of his life to the fullest! With Barfi, Anurag Basu has successfully shown us an amazing story of a deaf-and-dumb man and an autistic girl without the support of loud background scores and other means and has also got the audiences' involved in the proceedings.

South Indian actress Illeana D'Cruz gets into the depths of her character named Shruti (a Bengali belle) to narrate the magical tale of Barfi (Ranbir Kapoor) who happens to be a fun loving character living with his ageing father in Darjeeling of the 70s. Barfi is charming for his cute Chaplin-meets-Mr. Bean funny acts, but more than that, people love him for his childlike and uncomplicated heart. Barfi meets Shruti on her trip to Darjeeling and she finds herself falling for him despite the fact that she is about to get married to a wealthy man back in Kolkata. After a short-lived romance, Shruti chooses worldly pleasures over true love and marries the wealthy man, leaving Barfi dejected and heartbroken.

Jhilmil Chatterjee (played by Priyanka Chopra) is an autistic girl who belongs to rich family in Darjeeling but her family does not seem to care about her emotional needs. Meanwhile, as Barfi tries to come to terms with the fact that Shruti has dumped her, he finds his father suffering from kidney failure. Barfi has no money and tries all possible ways to get the money for his father's treatment but to no avail. Left with no other choice, quite reluctantly, Barfi and his best friend plan to kidnap Jhilmil and blackmail her parents for the money. Within a short span of time, Barfi and Jhilmil realize that they are made for each other and they will have no problems sharing the rest of their lives together without bothering about their physical disabilities. Meanwhile, Shruti could never forget Barfi and even after six years of marriage, she realizes that she still loves the fun loving mute-and-dumb man from Darjeeling.

The story swings from 1978, 1972 and 2012 in a smooth and clear manner and the songs are touching and soulful. Cinematographer Ravi Varman captures striking North Bengal in a marvelous way. Each frame is like a wonderful painting.

The music and background score of the film has been composed by Pritam. Priyanka Chopra was supposed to sing for the film but her contract with Universal Music prevented her from taking the offer. Some additional vocals were given by Ranbir Kapoor himself.

Ranbir Kapoor delivers a stellar performance. After grabbing awards last season for his superb performance in 'Rockstar', Ranbir easily portrays the role of Barfi, leaving the audience speechless. Barfi's character teaches us that life is all about seeking happiness in small things rather than getting wasted in pursuing worldly pleasures. Priyanka Chopra essays the role of an autistic girl with elegance and Bollywood newbie Illeana D'Cruz plays the role of a girl fighting for her own wishes with brilliance.

To sum up, Anurag Basu's 'Barfi!' is an absolute sweet treat for his fans. He has shown us that people with disabilities cannot only be portrayed as lifeless characters on screen. "Barfi" is a sweet that you cannot afford to taste and indulge yourself!

The Dirty Picture (2011) - Hindi Movie Review

Directed by Milan Luthria and produced by Ekta and Shobha Kapoor, The Dirty Picture is an excellent film with explosive dialog and a bang on performance by Vidya Balan, also starring Emraan Hashmi, Naseeruddin Shah and Tusshar Kapoor, The film is a story about a make-up girl who becomes an extra and then the most wanted heroine of the early 80s. Yes, the chronicle rising and the steep fall of the screen sensation Silk Smitha has been perfectly depicted by the quintessential Vidya Balan. Set against the colorful and the entertaining backdrop of south film industry of the 80s, The Dirty picture is a biopic on the life and time of Silk Smitha. It shows her struggles, man in her life and her insecurities.

Director Milan Luthria has given an outstanding piece of cinema. Stepping out of the comfort zone to narrate the tragic story of an actress, the film at no point looks immodest or vulgar. The music composer Vishal Shekhar delivers a good soundtrack. "Oh la la.." is easily the song of the year sung by Bappi Lahiri and Shreya Gosal, While "Ishq tu piya na.." too stand out among the lot. Other songs like "Twinkle twinkle little star.." and "Honeymoon ki raat.." needs special mention.

Silk Smitha aka Vidya in the film have come really long way from her struggling days. Making her debut in the TV serial "Hum Paanch", Vidya's bold and seductive avatar is a complete shocker. Vidya's sizzling show and dare bare act doesn't make her character vulgar or tasteless. She is one of the main reasons why anyone would watch this film. Sometimes, while watching the movie, you wonder why there are Vidya-less scenes in this movie. She has dared to wear no makeup in the second half of the movie, which is very rarely seen in Bollywood movies. She even put on weight for this role in the movie. The clothes she wore is a reflection of the time she is going through. Naseeruddin Shah who has been cast as an aged south superstar with no doubt gives a flawless performance. Emraan Hashmi too stands out as a headstrong, hot blooded, rebellious director. Tusshar also plays his part decently well. Overall, The Dirty Picture is true shocker of the year that is high on sex values. Portrayal of an ordinary person rise from scratch to extraordinary high and her subsequent fall has potential to set the cash register bringing.

The "Curse of Chucky": A Doll's Life

When wounded cinematic serial killer Charles Lee Ray used voodoo magic to transfer his soul into a redheaded doll, a film franchise was born. The first "Child's Play" movie came out more than 20 years ago, spawned four sequels, and inspired a forthcoming reboot of sorts titled "Curse of Chucky." The new entry seeks to return Chucky to the bleak, violent roots of the first films and move him away from the campy comedy aspects of the latter films. Before Chucky's big return, take a look back at his previous hits.

The origin of Chucky was shown in "Child's Play," which was released in 1988 at the heels of the slasher movie craze. When a detective chases a wounded Charles Lee Ray into a toy store, the killer uses voodoo to put his soul into a Good Guy doll, a fictional line of redheaded talking dolls. The toy is later sold to a mother, Karen Barclay (Catherine Hicks), who gives the toy to her son Andy (Andy Levine). Chucky pretends to be a real Good Guy for a brief period of time before he begins murdering those who get in his way.

When his wounds begin to show real blood, Chucky visits his old voodoo teacher and discovers that he can turn mortal in the doll if he stays in it too long. The only solution is to utilize voodoo and put his soul into the body of the first person who knew his actual identity. Chucky had told Andy his real name early on and chases the child down to attempt the ritual. The doll's plans are foiled when Karen and the detective attack and destroy the doll.

"Child's Play 2" picks up shortly after the events of the first film. Karen Barclay is in a psychiatric hospital while Andy is in the foster care system. The Chucky doll is reconstructed by Play Pals, the makers of Good Guy dolls, to see what went wrong in its programming. Chucky returns to life, hijacks the car of an executive, and discovers Andy's new location with a foster family.

The evil doll is able to take the spot of a normal Good Guy doll in the house but it's a short period of time before Andy, and the other members of the household, discover his true killer nature. Andy and his foster sister Kyley are forced to evade Chucky as he attempts once again to place his soul in Andy's body. The children are able to kill Chucky in the Play Pals factory once he begins turning human again.

Chucky's factory death in the second film leads to his resurrection in the third. Eight years have passed and the Play Pals factory finally reopens. Chucky's remains taint a new batch of plastic and produce a fresh doll form for the serial killer's soul. The doll kills an executive for the company and hacks into the computer system to track down Andy (Justin Whalin), who is now a teenager in military school. When Chucky ships himself to the school to find his old enemy, a young boy named Tyler decides to keep him instead. Chucky tells Tyler his secret since the boy wouldn't put up an initial fight, having no history with the doll, but still plans to find Andy to kill him in revenge. Tyler eventually discovers Chucky's true nature and Andy saves the day by dismembering Chucky one last time.

Chucky returns for another film but Andy doesn't. In "Bride of Chucky," the first comedic film of the series, Chucky's pieces are found by Charles Lee Ray's ex-girlfriend, Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly). Tiffany reassembles the doll and performs the voodoo ritual needed to bring Chucky back to life. She succeeds but locks Chucky in a playpen after finding out her engagement ring was stole from one of his victims. Chucky escapes and murders Tiffany then places her soul into a bride doll as punishment for her mocking. The doll duo plans a trip to a cemetery where Ray's body was buried with an amulet powerful enough to get both souls back into human bodies.

The dolls get a ride with Tiffany's friend Jesse, who thinks he's making a doll delivery for cash he needs as he runs away with his girlfriend, Jade (Katherine Heigl). The road trip turns bloody, with Jesse and Jade at times blaming each other for the carnage, before a final showdown in the cemetery. Tiffany ends up trying to kill Chucky, but he stops her. Jade does kill Chucky. Tiffany survives long enough to give birth to the couple's child, Glen. The newborn immediately murders a bystander.

The final film in the original franchise was also comedic in nature. "Seed of Chucky" opens six years later with the gender confused Glen/Glenda deciding to resurrect his parents by stealing animatronic dolls of them created for a film. Tiffany decides she wants to place her soul in the body of Jennifer Tilly, starring as herself. Chucky decides he'd rather stay a doll and attempts to kill both Tiffany and his son/daughter. Glen kills his father and Tiffany performs the ceremony to transfer her soul into Tilly's body and Glen's into that of Tilly's unborn child. At the end of the film, a package is delivered to the human Glen. It contains Chucky's arm. The arm attacks, hinting at what might happen in the next sequel.

That sequel was not to happen as the filmmakers felt fans would prefer a reboot to the darker days of Chucky. "Curse of Chucky" has the doll attacking a family during funeral preparations and his main foil is a girl confined to a wheelchair. Brad Dourif, who has voiced Chucky since the start of the series, will remain as the sound of the killer. Time will tell if "Curse" will lead to a new breed of darker Chucky sequels.
